The viewpoint of Monte Cacciù offers a 360-degree panorama that encompasses the entire Adriatic coast, the gentle Marche hills, and, on clearer days, the imposing chain of the Sibillini Mountains.
The Park of Monte Cacciù embraces the entire town of Porto San Giorgio to the east with its seafront, red rooftops, and marina; to the south, the outlines of the village of Torre di Palme and the blue expanse of the Adriatic are visible. To the west, the profile of the city of Fermo stands out in the distance, and when the sky is clear, the Sibillini Mountains can be admired in sequence: from Monte Vettore to Sibilla, from Priora to Monte Piselli, up to the majestic Pizzo di Sevo, which towers over the horizon at 2,419 meters.
The Monte Cacciù Viewpoint is located in the hilly area of Porto San Giorgio, along Strada Cacciona, in a peaceful position overlooking the Adriatic Sea, the town and the surrounding hills.
If travelling by car, Porto San Giorgio can be reached via the A14 motorway exit for Porto San Giorgio/Fermo or along the SS16 Adriatica coastal road. From the town centre, continue inland towards the hilly area and Strada Cacciona. The road gradually climbs from the coast towards the hills, offering panoramic views along the way.
The nearest railway station is Porto San Giorgio–Fermo, located in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti. From the station, the viewpoint is not easily reachable on foot, as it is situated in a hilly area. It is therefore recommended to continue by taxi, private car or any available local transport services.
Visitors can park where permitted along Strada Cacciona or in the immediate surroundings, always checking local signs and making sure not to obstruct residents or other vehicles.
For longer visits or on busy days, it may be more convenient to park in Porto San Giorgio town centre and reach the viewpoint by taxi or private vehicle.
Built in the early 19th century by the Sinibaldi family and later passed to the counts Maggiori and the Murri family, this historic brick residence has served over time as a municipal seat, a school, and a polyclinic. Surrounded by a large garden accessible from two entrances, the villa represents today a fundamental piece of the historical and social memory of Porto Sant'Elpidio.
Located along the avenue that connects the coast to the historic center, Villa Vitali is a beautiful nineteenth-century residence surrounded by a historic park of great botanical value.
The Old Country, corresponding to the current corso Castel San Giorgio, represents the original nucleus of the ancient village and the city port, where the Adriatic Sea once reached. Characterized by three pointed arches that marked the landing area for boats, the site today offers a charming walk along the castle walls that leads to the Merlata Tower or Turrimagna.
