The Project

The Project
Coast of the Villages

Costa dei Borghi – Riviera Fermana is a territorial project created to present and promote, in a unified way, the six coastal municipalities of the Province of Fermo: Altidona, Campofilone, Fermo, Pedaso, Porto San Giorgio and Porto Sant’Elpidio.

It is an area where sea, historic villages, hills, culture, traditions, landscape and hospitality come together — a territory that has chosen to present itself as a shared, recognisable destination, capable of expressing a common vision.

Where it comes from

The project is part of the Territorial Strategy “Soft-Blue Fermano. A Sea of attractions for a shared waterfront”, promoted within the framework of the PR Marche ERDF 2021–2027 programme.

Costa dei Borghi was born from a collaborative process involving local administrations, tourism operators, institutions, associations and local communities, with the aim of building a new shared territorial identity and strengthening the tourism promotion of the Riviera Fermana.

One territory, many identities

Costa dei Borghi does not erase the identities of the individual municipalities: it connects them. Each place preserves its own history, landscapes, traditions and vocations; the project was created precisely to bring these differences into dialogue within a broader narrative.

The sea remains one of the destination’s central elements, but it is closely interwoven with the villages, hills, cultural heritage, food and wine, events, craftsmanship and experiences that make this part of the Marche region so distinctive.

The project’s objectives

Costa dei Borghi aims to strengthen the visibility and recognisability of the Riviera Fermana as an integrated tourist destination, capable of enhancing the connection between coast and inland areas and promoting the territory through more coordinated communication.

The project seeks to encourage a shared vision among the municipalities involved, improve the unitary perception of the destination, support the quality of hospitality and enhance the cultural, natural, social and tourism resources found throughout the area.

Another key objective is to help build a more cohesive territorial system, in which the public and private sectors can work together to strengthen the appeal of the Riviera Fermana and guide tourism development in a sustainable, balanced way, consistent with the identity of its places.

A Riviera Fermana to be told together

Costa dei Borghi is, first and foremost, a territorial project: a journey that looks at the Riviera Fermana as a system made up of places, people, communities and experiences.
